way to go tommy!!!!!!

usually your forearms start crying out for help! I'll be doing this one around 9 or 10 tonight.

Naylor said...

good work! what was the hardest part for you?

Tom said...

It was more a cumulative effect than anything. The bar, especially in the hang position, started to feel like it weighed 8000lbs.

The worst part, though, that made me want to quit, was bringing the bar to the back squat position. The first 4 or so rounds I'd rake my neck with my bar...I finally had to tie an article of clothing around my neck to soften the blow a little, and then started bring it down further onto my shoulders...

My arms still feel like jelly.

Eesh. Brutal Day 1 WOD.

I am doing mine tonight too. i will post either right after or tomorrow am...if I am still alive.

Naylor said...

i hear ya tom! first time i did this wod the back of my neck was sore for over a week. you really have to focus on resting that bar as far back as possible.

Naylor said...

forgot to ask this, but just assumed...are you guys doing any kind of warm up, if so what are you doing?

Tom said...

This morning, I did a couple of sets of 45xOH squats, some jump ropes, some pull-ups, etc...

...I usually do whatever until (1) my heart rate is up and (2) the muscles I'm using that WOD have been used/engaged in reps of something, etc. Basically, whatever I have to do so my body isn't shocked at what it's about to go through.

i think that we are all in accord with this wod. my forearms are taxed, my hands can't grasp a pencil, my neck is being iced as we speak. it was sure hell but was a good wod. good one naylor.

Naylor said...

awesome berb! did you happen to record your time on each round too?

next time we do the bear i say we do 135lbs. i'll post my times later tonight.

where's homer and jake?

Jake Buchanan said...

way to go berb! glad you made it through.

as for the warm up i usually do about half of the standard crossfit warmup, something like 1x10 of pullups, squats, pushups, situps, swings, maybe an extra 10 of squats, my legs take more warming up than my upper body.

Tom said...

A 135lb Bear would be misery...especially at 10 rounds. I'd be sucking gas for 2 full minutes in between rounds.

Naylor said...

for sure...increase the weight will definitely require more rest time, similar to a lynn...

wife walked in the garage at round 9...gave me a little extra umph i guess. LOL my squats are still not below parallel, but pretty close now.

Tom said...

Holy moly...Naylor, were your rounds, if I'm reading your post right, all hovering around 1 minute long?

Homer said...

25:22- I did not record each round like TOm did- sorry- Oh And yes- I puked. and cried. But what a blast!

Naylor said...

nice work homer!

thanks tom, yep i set a new PR by doing it in 29 seconds!

i'm going to use 135lbs next time. i think i might be able to do the bear with 200lbs, but only 7 reps max.

Tom said...

Nice job Homer. Someday I, too, hope to join the pukie crowd...but not yet.

Naylor - how in the world do you do a rep every 2.9 seconds? That, to me, is unfathomable.

Naylor said...

i take all my frustrations out on that bar...it's fun.

Jake Buchanan said...

naylor, if you can do 10 bears @95lbs in under :30 seconds, how is your fran time not around 2 minutes? i don't understand??????

Jake Buchanan said...

naylor,

you must have alot of frustrations. those times were incredible. as homer says "you are a beast to be reckoned with"

Naylor said...

i should be in the 3 minutes, ankle doesn't do well with thrusters and front squats.

i've got more weight than you guys (210), last time i maxed on bench was 355lbs, 95lbs is pretty light to me. i can get the first round of fran done in 1 minute, but than my heart rate catches up to me...make sense?

Jake Buchanan said...

the only thing not making sense to me is why are you not in the crossfit games?

Jake Buchanan said...

1 232

4 204
5 259
6 320

10 639

start to finish w/rest in between 49:50

ughhhhhhh........

Naylor said...

thanks for the compliment jake.

i was considering the games this year before i got hurt. i would have done pretty good last year, around middle of the pack. but the depth of talent this year is ridiculous!

i can't wait to see some of these ex NFL guys

Jake Buchanan said...

is it available to watch on the internet or tv?

also you better be planning on entering next year. that's not a request. that's a command!

we need to think of a new name for our group. team b3-ho doesn't work anymore, we have naylor, and sam and josh now that makes 8 total.

Tom said...

Sam and Josh have to come here before they're admitted to the club. They have to post a comment or something.
